"Resuming the Beat: My Journey into DJing and Music Production"
Hey, fellow music enthusiasts! It’s Makarii here, and I’m beyond excited to share my journey with you as I dive back into the world of DJing and music production. While I may not be a seasoned DJ, I’ve always had music in my blood, thanks to my upbringing around DJs and music lovers. So, grab a seat, and let’s explore this new chapter in my musical adventure!
A Return to My Roots
The past few ears have been a bit different for all of us posing challenges and shifts by external circumstances. Like many, I had to take a break from the DJ booth and the electronic music scene that I’d occasionally dipped in and out of, but kept in the loop with. For a while in 2020-2021 I continued with online DJ sets with Solaris Radio, now Called Insignia Radio. However, it was after taking a break, that I again realized how much music meant to me and how eager I was to make a comeback
Learning from Scratch
Unlike my DJ peers who have been at it for years, I’m relatively new to the scene. I’ve always been around DJs and producers, also working with them in my Coaching Business, soaking in the energy and rhythms of the electronic music world, but I hadn’t taken the plunge myself until recently. When I decided to get back into DJing, I took a different path. I opted to deepen my skills from the very basics and learn the art of mixing with vinyl records. Because when I learn something I want to learn it the ‘proper’ way.
Vinyls and Lessons
To get the hang of vinyl DJing, I dedicated myself to countless hours of practice. There’s something magical about the tactile experience of vinyl that drew me in, and it’s a craft I’ve come to deeply respect. Learning to truly listen and feel the music, gives me a different kind of connection to DJing that I enjoy. I also decided to invest in myself by taking lessons and a course at the H.O.M.E Studio in Hamburg, guided by the experienced Franz Plaza, who had the likes of Mariah Carey and Depeche Mode record at his studio and the London Sound Academy, where I learnt to DJ in the first place. These experiences have been invaluable in helping me refine my skills and understand the nuances of electronic music production.
Introducing 'I've Always Loved You'
Now, I’m thrilled to announce that my debut track is nearly ready for its grand reveal! Titled ‘I’ve Always Loved You,’ this track is a labor of love that encapsulates my musical journey and the emotions that have fueled it and tell a stroy very close to my heart. The inspiration behind the track runs deep, and I can’t wait to share the story behind it in my next blog post.
The Future Awaits
As I gear up for the launch of ‘I’ve Always Loved You,’ I’m filled with a sense of purpose and a newfound appreciation for the art of DJing and music production. My journey may have started late, but I’m making up for lost time with passion, dedication, and an unwavering love for music.
