Having grown up between 3 countries in Europe, the versatility of Makarii is uncanny. Born in Hamburg Germany, the Home of Techno, brought up in Spain, country of ‚Fiestas’ and good vibes and living a third of her life in London, she brings a notion of the love for the 3 cultures together. Growing up in a Hippie neighbourhood in Spain with Techno and Psychedelic trance Djs in her close circle of family, from toddler onwards, Maria finds that techno beats and melodies run in her blood and dipped in and out of music projects since her teens.
Being obsessed with the two polarities of light and dark aspects of life, she infuses her sets with soulful melodic, dark and raw techno sounds, bringing the listener on a journey through the metaphorical ups and downs of life.
A wide spectrum of musical taste evolved throughout her life, growing up with music from the 80’s and 90’s and drawing favourite songs from many genres, such as rock, pop, house, techno, hip hop and rap. Most recent love affair is with art rock music such as RYX, and drawing inspiration from Maceo Plex, Hans Zimmer, Jamie Jones, Nicole Moudaber and Eli & Fur, whom Makarii went to school with.
As an empath, emotive sounds are what really drive Makarii’s choice of songs and she recently got certified as an electronic Music Producer in Hamburg, and creating her own music. It is just the beginning.
